Abstract

Modern Urdu  poem  has adopted various  influences of Western poem, among which Psychological thought, Existentialism  and Romanticism emerge as significant intellectual trends. Meera Ji emerges as a poet who skillfully expanded the scope of modern Urdu poem by embracing  theses western intellectual trends in general. Psychological complexity sense of underappreciation and a sort of rich romantic imagination being the basic traits of his personality, paved the way of assimilate thesis particular western thoughts in his  Urdu poem with  phenomenal mastery. An attempt has been made through this article to understand these concepts in his Urdu poem within the context of Western influences as whole.
