Abstract
The exegesis of heavenly books, such as the Quran, Bible, and Torah, has become a battleground for contemporary political extremism. Interpretations of religious texts are being manipulated to serve the agendas of extremist groups, leading to a distortion of the original messages of these scriptures. For instance, certain verses from the Quran, known as "sword verses," are taken out of context to justify violence and terrorism by extremist factions. Similarly, interpretations of the Bible and Torah have been used to legitimize religious wars and violence throughout history, perpetuating a cycle of conflict. The rise of nationalism is a prominent factor contributing to the surge in political extremism globally. Nationalist movements often exploit religious narratives to promote hate speech and discriminatory policies against minorities and immigrants. Furthermore, economic inequalities and political instability provide fertile ground for extremist ideologies to take root, offering disillusioned individuals a simplistic solution to complex societal problems. Additionally, the proliferation of social media platforms has facilitated the spread of extremist ideologies, allowing groups like Daesh and Al-Qaeda to recruit followers and amplify their propaganda worldwide. Addressing the contemporary trends of political extremism in the exegesis of heavenly books requires a multifaceted approach. This includes promoting religious literacy to counter misinterpretations, fostering inclusive societies that celebrate diversity, and addressing the root causes of economic inequality and political instability. Governments, civil society organizations, religious leaders, and technology companies must work together to combat extremism and promote tolerance, peace, and understanding across cultures and religions.
